Day Six

9:28 AM

Today we spent the morning working on the white boards and the solar dehydrator. Katie and the two Julias also taught the science lesson to the students in 4th grade. We managed to finish one of the white boards, and we can't wait until they dry completely, so we can implement them in the classrooms! The solar dehydrator is also on its way. Our goal is to finish it by tomorrow so we can start testing. It was a long day of hard work, but we had plenty of entertainment to keep us interested. A spontaneous dance party happened thanks to a terrific DJ. We learned how to do a "One Drop" dance move and in returned taught everybody else the Jerk and the Dougie. Johann and Mitchell also managed to have a fun game of Jenga with the left over wood blocks from building the white board.
Jenga!

I got a good picture of intense football game during lunch featuring our football goals.

Tonight was the only Friday night we have in Jamaica, and we spent it at a play called Basement Granny! It is a hit comedy play, and this is the third installment. We didn't really know what to expect going into it because a good portion of it is going to be in Patois (which we have pretty limited knowledge of, even after Tessa's class). It was a lot of fun though because the crowd was going crazy for every single joke made in the play. I've never seen such a responsive audience!! However, the play went pretty late in the night. By intermission, it was already almost 11pm, which was way past our bed time, so we headed back before the second half started.
